What we collect when you swap with VSwap, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Short version: as little as possible.
01What we collect
VSwap doesn’t have accounts, so we collect very little. For each exchange we keep:
- the coins, amounts and rate of the exchange;
- the address you want paid to, and any memo or tag;
- your refund address, if you give one;
- your email address, if you choose to get updates;
- the transaction IDs of your deposit and payout.
Like most websites, our servers also log basic technical details such as your IP address and browser, to keep the service running and secure.
02How we use it
- To carry out your exchange and send your coins.
- To show you the status of your order.
- To email you updates about your exchange, if you asked for them.
- To prevent fraud and meet our legal duties, including anti-money-laundering checks.
- To answer you when you contact support.
03Our legal reasons
We use your information because we need it to provide the exchange you asked for, because the law requires it (for example, anti-money-laundering rules), or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. Where we rely on your consent, such as for email updates, you can withdraw it at any time.
05How long we keep it
We keep exchange records for as long as anti-money-laundering law requires, which is usually five years after the exchange. Server logs are deleted after a few weeks. Email addresses used only for updates are deleted once the exchange is complete.
07Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it, where we don’t have to keep it by law;
- stop or limit how we use it.
You can ask us to do any of these; include your order ID so we can find your exchange. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local data protection authority.
08Terms
Using VSwap is also covered by our Terms of Service.
